Samba XP home.....
I've been playing around with this for a couple of days now, I have read as much as I can here's my situation and problem. I'm running suse 9.2 and trying to get my xp home boxes to play nicely with my samba shares.
Here's what I have set up, my one xp home PC is shared with myself and wife, we have two different profiles, no passwords set. I can mount my samba shares by setting them manually //IP-address/, then it asks for username and password, I only enter a username on the Linux box (no password) and i can mount the shares, etc. If I try to browse for the linux box it doesn't appear in the network neighborhood ( i have tried several smb.conf, variations and not one of them has been browseable). My second problem is printing to the linux box, browsing doesn't show any printers, but I can manually mount it with //IP-address/printer_name and then I have to enter the username again and I have access. Works great, but when I log out and log my wife onto the PC, she can see the printer but it gives here access denied.
I can post my smb.conf file, but I'm not attached to it, I've tried several iterations. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
