You shouldn't have to make any registry changes. If your windows clients are 98 or newer you'll need to add the encrypt passwords = yes option under global.

No, it shouldn't. Are you reading something about registry changes? You shouldn't have to mess with the registry at all. Here is some info on configuring the windows clients.
but just want to know why it should not, becz the person who asked me this question as now in response i will say no it should not then he will ask me why it should not , that is why i am asking to u this,

I don't quite understand the question or it's origin. What is this concern with the registry? Is the individual in question having a problem with the machine? What is the connection between the registry and a samba client? The only remotely possible application I can think of is modifying the registry to not encrypt passwords which is not very secure, and the smb.conf provides for encrypted passwords as stated above. With that said you'll have to explain further, I simply don't see the connection.
