I have samba servers on both sides.
One is 3.3.6-1, the second is 3.2.5-lenny6.
Both were "tuned" using such adds:
Code:
read raw = yes
write raw = yes
oplocks = yes
max xmit = 65535
dead time = 15
getwd cache = yes
lpq = 30
large readwrite = no
socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_KEEPALIVE SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
and of course restarted.
I have upload share on the 1st one and bulk 2GB files transfer from the second takes about, more than 1h.
The route involves wireless router with 54abg - close distance.
I assume that new samba uses CIFS except SMBFS by default.
Please give opinion or your experiences with samba (tips & tricks too). :-)
