Samba Confusion.

Hi.

First things first. I am a noob so please be patient.

I have Mandrake 9.1 running with a dual boot (XP) on my machine. This machine is connected to a Linksys 4 port hub/router. My brother's machine, which is also connected to the hub is running just XP on it. The hub/router is connected to a cable modem. The internet connection is working just fine.

My question is that if i wanted to see the files in the shared folders on my brother's machine while in linux, would Samba be the right program to use. If so, how would i install and configure it. If not then what would I use for the procedure?

Network setup:

Gateway 192.168.1.1
My IP 192.168.1.102
Bro's IP 192.168.1.101
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Thank you in advance.

To only view shares you don't need to set up Samba, never having used mandrake there is a good chance though if you type into your file browser address bar

smb:

or similiar give or take a forward slash / you will be able to see them, you really only need the samba client part of samba which was probably installed when you setup
