samba and firewalls
Could my firewall be blocking the ports suitable for samba, being the reason i recieve
"no master browser found"
i cannot use swat, when i attempt i just recieve a message on the lines of: acces has been blocked.
could i of blocked my local traffic by mistake?

Depends on your setup. If the firewall and samba reside on the same machine, then it is possible for the firewall rules to be blocking it. It could also mean that the WINS service isn't running on any other servers on the network. 2000/2003 don't require WINS to be running, so if you didn't enable WINS manually then you'd need to do that.

Hi,
so as to verify your firewall settings, just do a
iptables -L -n -v
you'll have to look wether TCP/UDP ports 137, 138 and 139 are open: they're the ones needed to use samba.

firewall and samba are on the same box, i did enabled wins service.
perhaps i should use openssh as its secure solution
I just wanted to send files to another box, opposed to going through the net through a im program.
it proberly is my firewall
