Running Router Daemon In Fedora Core 5


hi all,
i have installed fedora core 5 in one of my system. it is also connected to other systems in a LAN. moreover, i have also downloaded a router daemon radvd-0.9.1-1.1.1.i386.rpm in ROOT. in order to monitor data packet exchange b/w nodes i am using Ethereal.

BUT THE PROBLEM IS I AM NOT ABLE TO RUN THE DAEMON. PLEASE ASSIST ME.

asap.

Are you trying to run the daemon as a normal user or as root? Only root has can start a daemon process.

i am trying to enter thru ROOT. what are the commands to be executed? plz help

Ok I have never used radvd before but with a little googling it looks like it has a /etc/init.d/radvd file, so I would say to start the daemon type:

/etc/init.d/radvd start

i have done this for n number of times. i am new to linux. i don't know what to look for and where!!
