rsync help
Dear All,
I want to configure our windows workstations to backup data onto the Linux Server for which through Internet i found out a rsync is the ideal solution and accordingly configured as per the steps mentioned below:
client side:
1) downloaded cygwin setup file
2) by running setup downloaded three files and installed in windows system as under
a) cygrunsrv under Admin
b) rsync under Net
c) nano under Editors
3) logged in to Cygwin and created secret file which contains password
4) chmod 600 for secret file
5) created a batch in windows specify source data for back on to the Server
6) The batch file has been configured in windows to run on shutdown
Server side:
1) configured rsync to run as daemon
2) configured rsyncd.conf file specifying the path to store the backup data
3) created rsyncd.secrets file to match with windows secret for authentication.
With the above configuration i could take backup from the windows xp machine running script on shutdown, but i am not able to take from windows 2000 system. I am not able to find out where exactly the problem as no error message being prompted.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
regards,
T. Saravana
