Router does not route

Hello all,
Today I installed an adsl-router with Debian Sarge on it.
I successfully set up pppoe, activated ip_forward in /proc (and in the configs) and set up a rule for Masquerading:
Code:
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ppp0 -j MASQUERADE
Then I changed the default route on the clients to the new router and tried to ping some IP-adresses.
Unfortunately, I got no responses. Now I'm stuck, thinking of what I could have forgotten.
So, I would really appreciate any help.

Maybe a dumb question. Why -o ppoe and not -o eth0. Is it a Debian way to do it with ppoe.

Thanks for your response. I use ppp0 because both, the dsl-modem and the masqueraded network, are on eth0, beyond a switch.

Code:
iptables -P FORWARD DROP
iptables -A FORWARD -i ppp0 -o eth0 -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT
iptables -A FORWARD -i etho -o ppp0 -j ACCEPT
But even if I set FORWARD to ACCEPT, it doesn't work...

EDIT: oops, I was wrong. If I set FORWARD to ACCEPT it actually works.
Thanks for that hint.
How should I modify my rules to allow LAN (eth0) access to the internet (ppp0)?
I thougt that the last FORWARD rule would be sufficient.

EDIT 2: Stupid typo... I wrote etho instead of eth0.
Now it works just well. Anyway, thanks for all replies.
