Ive just installed Zenwalk on a p2 laptop which installed without a hitch! Then I plugged it into my adsl router along with the other 2 computers in the house(one with slackware and the other with xp). After messing around with netconfig I find that the file called /etc/resolv.conf is empty. No text. Also /etc/samba.conf. Empty. Do I have to write stuff into these files. The only ping that returns a positive result is ping 120.0.0.1

If anyone can help here Id really like to get this connected up in order to share files.

he he he....

/etc/resolve.conf should have a entry
nameserver ip-address of your router

and the network device should also be enabled.
Check the ifconfig command or similar.

Regarding cifs/smb filesharing check out google for a whole bunch of documentation.
come back if you receive any errors.
So when you did already some pre-work...

Are you using some Hub/Switch or you are having ports n your DSL router ?..
you have to place dns provided by ISP in resolve.conf

like..
nameserver 1stIP_add_ofISP
nameserver 2ndIP_add_ofISP
and check whether your dsl router is configured as DHCP or not ..
first of all are you able to ping your dsl router from all the pc's ?
