resend captured network traffic
I've been assigned to setup a Linux or BSD Ethernet bridge that will be used to filter out certain types of traffic. One of the problems I face is testing the filters on a private network in order to analyze the results, and determine what needs to be tweeked, and what types of legit traffic is being dropped. I would like to be able to take, for example, a gig's worth of live data, dump it to a log file with either Ethereal or TCPDump (but i'll use whatever works) and then I would like to push the data from that log file through my private network as if it were live data. Is it possible to do this? Does anyone know of a program that will claim data from a dump file and re-transmit it out a specific ethernet port as if it was live??
Thanks
