Question remote file copying

Hello there,

pls i am trying to copy files remotely btw 2 machines on the Internet. i have authentication files both on the two servers and i wud like them to be updating each other automatically at intervals through cron. i wud like to have used scp but it asks for passwords wch doesnt make it automatic. pls can i have some utility that can be so flexible but not lacking in security as well.
