Redhat 8.0 and DHCP problem

I have a Redhat 8.0 complete install and I have a 3com 3c905 card that for some reason refuses to pull an IP address from my DHCP server. If I setup the NIC's IP manually it works great, however, it gives me the error stating it can't establish statis link and it says to check the cable. The same system under Windows XP works just fine and it pulls the IP address properly. I have switched the ports and tried another cable and port on my switch and I have reinstalled Redhat twice without any luck. This isn't a huge deal but it is terribly annoying that something so trivial is broken.

I've used lots of 3c905B, B-TX's and other variants and have been really happy with them. Which module (or kernel driver) is it using?

Oh carp. I think I know what's wrong. You need either the dos tools or linux pcitools (I forget the name...) to change something on the card. I had that problem when I bought 20 3c905B's off a company which was parting out its NT farm. All of 'em had the same problem... I think it had to do with M-II negotiation or sensed media type. Pretty sure it was the media type. Find out how they're set up right now - and change it. I did this about 2 years ago (but I was in a hurry and didn't take notes.)

I have used lots of them as well and love them. I am currently using the 3c59x driver supplied by the distro. It detects the card just fine. I personally only use 3com cards in my machines. I have several 3c509 cards and a couple of the old 100mb 3c515 ISA cards. In this machine I have a 3cr990 and my machine with solaris has the onboard version of the 3c509 card. Not a problem with any of them at all except for this one. However it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue to me since it works flawlessly in Windows.

Ok well I did everythign I could think of such as getting all of the most up to date files for everything. I still cannot get it to work via DHCP. A friend suggested something could be wrong with the DHCP files. Is there anything I can do to check these out.
