radvd can not work in Ubuntu 8.10

Hi all,

I am newer for Ubuntu 8.10. when I want to run radvd, I faced errors as following:

Starting radvd: [Nov 24 10:04:28] radvd: IPv6 forwarding seems to be disabled, exiting failed.

IPv6 support must be enabled in the kernel for radvd to work.

Could someone help me?

Regards,

Weiping song

Did you try to look this up? From Google, first hit...Ubuntu forums:

http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/...an8/radvd.html

--------------------------------
"Note that if debugging is not enabled, radvd will not start if IPv6
forwarding is disabled. IPv6 forwarding can be controlled via
sysctl(8), net.ipv6.conf.all.forwarding on Linux or net.inet6.ip6.forwarding on BSD."
--------------------------------

So either turn on debugging, or enable IPV6 via sysctl.

Hi all,

Sorry for reply it so lately. I have fixed this problem by following commands:

sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.forwarding=1

then run "lsmod | grep ipv6", you can find process of ipv6.

At this time, sudo /etc/init.d/radvd start should be okay.

thanks,
