PXE Boot and IP Reuse???

Does anyone know of a way I can allocate the same IP address to different MAC address with DHCP? I have several diskless machines that are interchangable. No two would ever be on the network at the same time. I want them to always boot from the same image and start up as the same host at the same IP address.

I'm just switching from a solaris server to rhel. I tried this before on solaris using their dhcp server but it would not allow multiple entries for the same ip address. I'm guessing I'll run into the same in red hat. My latest thought is just using regular old dhcp to boot the client (pxe client using tftp) and using the network config in the client (red hat client) to override with a static address - is that possible?? I know I can make this work by changing some config when switching out hardware, but I want this to work as simply as: disconnect one computer and replace it with another, boot that box and we are running.

Any thoughts??

The easiest way:

1. Connect your DHCP server and hosts with a multi-port switch
2. Use the switch to configure a VLAN

'Hope that helps .. PSM

Set lease pool for pxe to 1 and lease time to an hour.
