IIRC this is an old unresolved issue with M$Proxy on a LAN and non-M$ browsers.

I have to put in a plug here. Have you guys had any problems with Internet downtime using MS Proxy 2.0? Several months ago we put up our first proxy server on Proxy 2.0 and man oh man.. did the problems start. Shortly thereafter we went to the new shiny and improved ISA server (also from MS) which brought even more headaches.
Today we have up 2 Squid proxies in a round-robin DNS config with failover from HeartBeat - things have never been better. On the MS solutions we ran into downtime constantly, mainly due to the servers freezing up on us, roughly once a week. Seems one of them has a SQL backend that was constantly corrupting on us too, and causing problems.
At any rate, we are sailing smooth now. Squid has been great, and noticably sped up our internet access with it's caching. We run a package with it called squidGuard that handles the redirection and blacklisting.
The one place it's not doing what we'd like at the moment is to work with our domain authentication to authorize users. But with everyone accessing it on our internal LAN, what does that matter?
