In my house we run a proxy server and all but one of the computers connect to the internet through it... I just installed Linux on my machine and tried to get it to connect to the proxy server but it just wont do...
according to winproxy's home page I should go to the Network configuration and in the "interfaces tab", Add the IP of the computer.. and so i did.. but i keep getting the same error: "The Computer is not allowed to access internet through the proxy"
Is there any other setting that i need to make??? I know it has to do with the IP....
I am using Proxy+...
What I forgot all the time is, that I did not enter the port, the proxy is using....
And besides....if you didn't buy WinProxy, you are limited to 2 concurrent users. So, this might be a problem too....
Hope this helps
1.Are you able to ping that machine which is connected to the net?
( In the shell prompt type ping <ip address of the system connected to net>
2. If so have you set the default gateway address in network configuration? ( Redhat linux programs->system->network configuration->edit )
3.Have you set the proxy settings in your Browser?
In netscape
Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Proxies->Manual Proxy Configuration
Http proxy <ip address of the machine connected to the net> port 80
