I am on Ubuntu Dapper. I am using wireless through a proxy, 192.168.0.1 on port 8080. However although this works for firefox, it doesnt work for synaptic, adept or anything else i try. please recomend something.
what exactly do you mean by "it doesn't work"?? did you configure synaptic to use the proxy?? are you getting any error messages?? what happens when you try and use synaptic with the proxy?? the more details you provide, the easier it'll be for someone to help you...

I have configured syaptic for it and when it reloads to get the new package details it comes out with a message saying that I need to check my network connection and in terminal it says that proxy is not authorised
