Question Problems sshing into box

This is my first post here and I hope it doesnt sound too stupid.
I have a Dell notebook setup with RH 9.0 standard kernel config.
I had it setup accepting connections via port 22 and port 80 using
forwarding through my router. Went to install the latest Slackware
version on it, changed my mind and reinstalled RH 9. Now as far as I know I have everything setup correctly duplicating the last setup. BUT now I can ping it and traceroute to it from
other boxes on my internal lan but cannot connect via ssh or http.
This is boggling my mind for three days now. Any idea whta i may be overlooking?
The port forwarding on the router never changed, the hosts file is correct, nothing
thats apparent is different except now I cant connect. I also cannot seem to
traceroute or ping to it by ip or hostname either from outside the lan
( comcast is my provider BTW)
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to LQ!

Just to ask the screamingly obvious question, are sshd and httpd up and running? If so, how is your firewall configured? Finally, when you can't connect, what kind of messages do you get back?

Oh yeah, one more thing: Can you surf the net from your RH box?

SSHD and HTTPD are indeed up and running, and yes I can surf the net.

I disabled the firewall ipchains and guess what, it worked!

thanks for the fast reply.
