Problems installing Netgear WN111v2 (AR9100ap chip) on Fedora 12 web server

Hello there,

I am having some difficulties installing a wireless usb adapter on Fedora 12. the usb adapter is: Netgear WN111v2 Wireless-N USB adapter and it has the chipset: Atheros AR9100AP. I did a intensive search on the web but i don't know how to go further. These are the steps i've tried.

I installed NdisWrapper and tried the following:

[root@vortex wn111v2]# ndiswrapper -i arusb_xp.inf
installing arusb_xp ...
[root@vortex wn111v2]# ndiswrapper -l
arusb_xp : driver installed
device (0846:9001) present (alternate driver: ar9170usb)
[root@vortex wn111v2]# ndiswrapper -m
adding "alias wlan0 ndiswrapper" to /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper ...
[root@vortex wn111v2]# ndiswrapper -ma
module configuration information is stored in /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper
[root@vortex wn111v2]# ndiswrapper -mi
module configuration information is stored in /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper
[root@vortex wn111v2]# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

virbr0 no wireless extensions.

[root@vortex wn111v2]# lsusb
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0846:9001 NetGear, Inc. WN111(v2) RangeMax Next Wireless [Atheros AR9001U-(2)NG]
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
[root@vortex wn111v2]# ndiswrapper
install/manage Windows drivers for ndiswrapper

[root@vortex wn111v2]# ndiswrapper -l
WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper, it will be ignored in a future release.
arusb_xp : driver installed
device (0846:9001) present (alternate driver: ar9170usb)

But i really have no clue what to do further.

I also found this site, which seems to have all the answers:

http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ar9170

But i have no idea how it works. I copied all the firmware files to right directory. But what is the next step?

Probably i am trying to use two methods for the same goal. Only one is needed, so i hope anyone can guide me the right way

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

This is the info which i got from the terminal:

[seraphim3k@vortex ~]$ modinfo ar9170
ERROR: modinfo: could not find module ar9170

Looks like it's not properly installed?

Cheers.
