Problem with IP redirecting to another

Hello

I have a production site in my DMZ which is 174.56.37.45 (Class B) and the hostname is myhelp.mycompany.com. It is running on Red Hat 7.

I also have a development site for this website which is located at 174.56.50.42 (Class B). I do updates on the development site then port it over to the production.

Today when I did an update I logged in to the IP of 174.56.50.42 in my browser to check to see if the update broke anything on the web page (the development site does not have a DNS entry) However I was automatically redirected to myhelp.mycompany.com which is the production site.

It appears there is no way for me to now access the development site via the browser as it keeps redirecting to the production site.

What happened here, I do not believe it is a DNS issue because I am typing in the IP of my development server in the browser (like I mentioned development site never had a host name). Is it likely someone has changed something on the network and if so what do I need to look for.

Many thanks

There are more questions unfortunately...
What was updated?
How are you doing the redirection?
Have you looked at the log entries on 174.56.50.42 to see why the redirection to prod?
check output of host command:

Code:
host 174.56.50.42
host 174.56.37.45
Should be different...

Is SSH enabled on prod and dev? If so, if you SSH to their IPs do you get to correct machines?

Many thanks for the pointers boy do I feel stupid... found out the issue... looks like I inadvertently copied the wrong Apache config over when I made a change which included the production virtual host. Appreciate the help though with your tips I was able to see where to look at least and knew it had to be an issue with the dev server when I saw a log file with prod's DNS name. Now to regain all that lost time. Thanks again
