Exclamation problem in configuring php in apache

recently i have installed apache and php on my mandriva 2010.

i have already configured apache for handling php files.
but whenever i start apache it comes up with the following error->

Code:
[root@localhost lemon]# /usr/local/apache2/bin/apachectl start
httpd: Syntax error on line 53 of /usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so: undefined symbol: zend_parse_parameters
is there any solution to the above problem?????

The message is saying that in line 53 of httpd.conf it is trying to
load /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so, and it is running into
problems. The first thing I would check is if the file exists and,
if it's a link, that the target of the link exists.

Next I would check the mandriva website to see if there are any
requirements for php, especialy anything related to zend. It
could be that a required package is missing.

Hi,

You have installed apache from source, as I can see from the fact it's running from /usr/local/apache2
How did you install php? From source, or using your distro's packages?

You could give more details about the configure options you've used.
Anyway, (re)move libphp5.so, go into the php sources directory, run make distclean and then redo the installation.
You can run:
Code:
./config.nice
so you don't have to write again all the configure options you used in your previous attempt

ok, thanks a lot!!!!!!

i rebuilt it...it's working fine.

but now i have some other strange problem.
php files are not handled properly. For example-
i create a php file named helloworld.php. the code is as follows
Code:
<HTML>
<BODY>
<?
echo ("<H1>Hello World!</H1>");
?>
</BODY>
</HTML>
but whenever i try to open it through any web browser, the output is the code snippet itself.
However this is not expected.
