Do you really mean "lunix"? Lunix is a "little unix like operating system for the commadore 64".
Perhaps also you mean "minolta"?

You should try searching for your drivers for CUPS (I assume you are using the CUPS printing system) at http://www.cups.org/ppd.php
If your printer is there - then you should be able to print to it from CUPS/linux.

Yes there are more friendly printers, hp is probably one of the most friendly for home and small office design.

Most printers can be made to somewhat work if you can find a driver of a model close. All the functions may not work properly.

Lexmark is the only manufacturer that has been hit-or-miss with Linux. But Lexmark is also pretty terrible on any platform.

Canon is also a hit or miss on some models. They may be better now but about 5 years back I found three different models I could not make work with linux.

Little side note for Minolta, I also found something weird on my Ubuntu system when connecting to the 2430 Minolta I have via LPD. If I use the "Minolta - 2430" driver, it works. However, it comes up originally with a "Konica Minolta - 2430" driver that is recommended. That driver doesn't seem to work.

I doubt other manufacturers are in this boat, as Lexmark is Lexmark, Canon is Canon, etc., but like I said I saw Konica Minolta and Minolta, both containing a 2430 driver, and the Minolta 2430 was the ticket. Just some food for thought.
