port forwarding in router for wol???

Hello,

I have the wake on lan option enabled on my debian computer. If i wake it by sending:
-mac adres
-internal ip in my home network
-subnetmask
-port 7

It all works fine, but when i try to do it from outside my network and change the ip address to the router adress it wont go on.

I have also opened the port 7 in my router.

Can someone please help me?

I've never used WoL but my understanding after reading this is that you would need to forward UDP port 7 to the broadcast address of your LAN, no?

Well i did do this: http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/5579/86515369.png
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/8...png/1/w640.png

Or is this not the same? Or perhaps it uses port 9 for outside network??

Well, that's not the broadcast address you're forwarding to.

The broadcast address would be 192.168.1.255.

At this point I would suggest we wait for someone with WoL experience to chime in here.
