Phone hotspot connecting but not working; modem hotspot works

I have a modem wireless router and two mobile phones. I use the wireless router as a hotspot for my laptop and it works fine, however I can't get the phones working as wireless hotspots. The signal is detected by the laptop and it connects OK, but when I try to browse the Internet pages won't load. It seems my system is attempting to load the page but isn't able to. I'm able to access the Internet on both phones directly.

Any suggestions? Maybe there's a setting I need to add in KDE connections configuration to get it going...?

Thanks.

Operating System: KDE neon 5.23
KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.87.0

Normally a hotspot offers clients both IP address and DHCP address. They also tend to offer it freely to any client. I've seen where you can't really use your own DHCP address since carrier doesn't allow it. Also seen where your phone seems to lock out a client or even require explicit authorization for the client.

From linux test ping and nslookup to start.

Be sure of any proxy issue.
Also any cached deal. See also IPv6 issues.

Thanks. That might explain things. I think there might be a workaround...

I think I've worked out the issue. It has to do with the APN settings. The default is <isp>.wap and when I changed it to <isp>.iph it started working. On some phones you might have to do "default, dun" or something. In fact, I think I had the issue with the modem a few months ago...didn't twig that it was the same issue with the phones.

Cheers.
