OPENLDAP to centralise services


I want centralise many services with openldap.

I have many linux/sun servers.
I want use openldap for:
- User authentification (centralise users/passwords)
- LAN name service resolution.
- Any other

I seek good references. And your comments.
Is it a good idea to replace DNS by ldap ?

well i've been using LDAP now for some time i use to to sync all my machines logins, sun, linux, windows, it works with just about everything. samba with openldap backend for windows and openldap for sun and linux. check out my website listed below i've writtern up most of my experiences with the software i've used you might find it useful.
