NTOP remote data collection

Is it possible to have NTOP run on say server1 in a very minimal state(without apache) and send its data to a remote system like NTOP there, or another type of system like Cacti? Or even if apache server is required is there a way to do the above, have it send its collection data to another system, Linux or windows, thereby monitoring multiple servers. I've searched around google and havent come across much on this subject besides Netflow Analyzer which is retail for windows. Anything free?

I also see I can use Netflow to Ntop but I'm not sure this will do what I want. More specifically I want to monitor several Samba servers nic's for Samba traffic. It doesnt look like Netflow can watch and graph this protocol.

Well i seem to be answering my own questions here, but for the record it seems Munin is somwhat capable of this. It uses a simple agent that does require a few perl modules but also has a Poor-Man's munin-probe program available that is a simple perl script that outputs to STDOUT and both can be tunneled over SSH to avoid firewall rules.

--- Oh cool thanks Iconx,

-- yea no problem, bye.
