Unhappy "no carrier" please HELP!


hello every one and thanks for your help!

i am using rh 9 and a pci linmodem that works fine i tested it by dialing my cell and it worked!...no i am trying out a new isp that supports linux connections...but i have a BIG problem i cant connect right were it say "expecting connect" after a few seconds i get a "NO CARRIER" message! I am using kppp and the network connection wizard but i just does not connect! as far as i know i have inclued the primary DNS and login id and pass...i also have checked the modem config and it seems fine to me can any one tell how can i fix my connection problem? thank you!

I can't tell you how to fix it but I had the same problem and, for reasons unknown,
setup>modem>query modem
and then just closing it made it either work or completely lock my machine. So I got DSL and I don't have that problem anymore. I have *different* problems.

But maybe that'll work for you.

I've got the same problem.
As I try to listen the modem call, it seems like the modem generate the wrong dtmf or something.

I will update my progress here, I hope you so.

thanks for helping i still have not connect not even once the funny thing is that it works fine under windows!

ah yes, i kno y ur having problems because i once had the same problem when i was using Suse 8.2 now on slackware your pci modem is a "win modem" windows emulates part of the hardware required to use your modem, i suggest buyin an external modem, theyre pretty cheap,
