Thumbs up nic auto startup doesnt work (solved)

Hi, (new to the world of linux

After nights of ... well learning is a process.. i still havent found out how i can bring up "automated" my second NIC, modprobe eepro100 and ifconfig eth1 works fine restarting networking as well, my etc/n../interfaces lookes the way I want it pinging works just great. I just have to bring eth1 up manualy every time... Interupts are 9 and 10 for eth0 and eth1.

in the forum i found a tip for a RH distr. to add a /sbin/modprob eepro100 to /etc/rc..... dont have that file on Debian and cant locate the right file in etc/init.d/

any help or hint that might make this night shorter then the last two nights?

I would suggest to use some either graphical or console based setup utility for networking.
I don't know what commands are available for Debian but my Red Hat has

netcfg and netconfig

If you still have trouble then check that your module get loaded at boot time.
If not then you will have to add it to the /etc/modules.conf file (the file may be named /etc/conf.modules).
Add a line like this

eth0 eepro100

You may also have to add IRQ information to that line. Don't remember how though.

This problem i solved with help of

http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-u.../msg73090.html

"Either add a line

eepro100

to /etc/modules, manually or by using modconf, or add a line

alias eth0 eepro100

to /etc/modutils/aliases or your own file in /etc/modutils and run
update-modules to save the change to /etc/modules.conf. "

will be back with more questions
