NFS Dummy Machine (NO HDD)?

I am currently brainstorming a project including two machines. A host and a dummy. The host will have the full install (everything i need) and the dummy will boot from a small embedded linux kernel. The Dummy will not use a harddrive, but instead will automount the host's filesystem via NFS.

Any suggestions to make this easy/easier are greatly appreciated.. THANKS!

Howzit

Create a NFS share from the server export it then from the client pc using autofs. The wat autofs works is that it will not be permantly mounted it will only mount that share when u cd to the directory thayt u want the NFS share to be on. e.g say u want the share to be mounted on /misc/nfsshare and this was configured ny the autofs if u type in mount it will not show any mount piont pionting to the NFS server., but if u type cd /misc/nfsshare then it will automatically mount your share to the NFS server.

The files to configure are /etc/auto.master and /etc/auto.misc and to start the service /etc/autofs

Not sure if all distros come with though

Another solution is a little diffrent but can take a look at it and that is a NIS server
