I am confused!
I have just built a new fileserver, installed Fedora Core 1 and set up nfs to share the disks with my other linux machines.
It seemed to go simply enough... but...
The fileserver now has a problem that it seems to sleep it's network connections after a period of inactivity, and these do not wake up again when required (i.e. I want my files!)
If I wander over to the console I can get everything coming back up to life by restarting network services. (Is this a red herring?)
I tried leaving a machine pinging the fileserver so that there is definite activity, but again after about 1/2 hour it goes back to sleep.
How do I get this machine to keep listening? I have turned off apmd.
Could this be hardware related? NIC? MB?
Thanks for any help!
A confused RedGremlin
