My ISP provide me with a new IP address.I use Red hat 6.2 and squid 2.2 as a firewall. i have changed the IP address in etc\network\interface but still have the old IP address and can not reach external network. How should I proceed.please help
If you changed the IP and it shows as your new IP you changed it to, check your DNS entries in /etc/resolv.conf
or try reconfiguring your new Network settings by running netconfig.
Well , I wrote the new address in etc\network\interfaces , but when i type ifconfig i still see the old ip address. In resolv.conf I have 127.0.0.1 .How can I change Ip address and mask on my eth0 using ifconfig as I think that is the problem ?
