I acquired an already set-up and working Linux with Slackware7 and have been trying to connect to it from a WinXP computer via My Ntwk Places. I had to change the Linux IP addr, DNS, workgroup, host allow (in Samba), etc., and was finally able to see the Linux from the XP, but it asks for a network password. Since the previous Linux owner had ntwk'ed to a WinME computer, I am suspecting that he had a ntwk password and not knowing that is causing me this problem. Is there a ntwk password and if yes, then where is it kept and how can I change it?
Also, when I try to connect to Linux (titan2), to it's 'public', I get "titan2\public not accessable, may not have permission, ntwk path not found" & as said above when I try titan2\jesse, it asks for a password.
I can successfully FTP and Telnet from XP to remote Linux, but NOT the other way around (another problem to be solved).
Tinkster, I was able to create a new account with a passwd, however, on My Ntwk Places, the only three options showing for me to connect to are jesse (for which I do not know a passwd--jesse(son) was previous owner), lpt, and public. So, now I have an account & passwd, but it isn't doing me any good, yet. More ideas?
