My pc has suse 8.1 witha samba installed and running...
Is there any way to mount the cd -r of my brothers pc so i can burn cds from my linyx?
thx
About the only way it _might_ be possible is to format the disc in Windows to make it available for packet-writing. Use Roxio's DirectCD or Nero's InCD. Then, it acts like a normal disk in Windows.
Packet writing isn't the same as a writing a regular CD i.e. ISO9660 format. You lose some space in formating, usable space is about 639 on an 650mb CD.
Can't use it for audio CD's unless you play them in a PC. You have to recompile the kernel to be able to read them in linux. I think writing in linux is still experimental.
You will need to setup file sharing on the windows box. Go to the control panel and click on network. Select the TCP/IP for your network card and select properties. Click on sharing file/printer button and select file sharing.
Then add the cdwriter share. In my computer or explorer right click on the cdwriter and select sharing. Selet share and type in a share name. Press ok.
You will now need to format the CDR for packet writing. DirectCD or InCD. See help files for details. It will take about a couple of hours on a 650mb CD.
Then you can mount the device in linux. i.e.
mount -t smbfs //win98_box/CDR /media/writer
