Netgear MA111 help(in the ad hoc mode)

I want to use two Netgear MA111 to make two PC(Red hat 9) communicate each other in the ad hoc mode, I configure them by following the Netgear MA111 USB Wireless Howto,but finally I failed.The two Netgear MA111 can only work well in the Infrastructure mode.What I must do so they can work well in the ad hoc mode?
