Need of Ip address software


needed a software for linux where i can store our ipaddress of machines,and can insert new ip and search for free ips.i searched lot on the internet for the software but can't find.

This is what I understand
You want a software to scan your ipaddress range and see what ips are taken and put them on to a file. You also want to see which ips are free.

Ips free will be all the ips which are not taken. So finding the ips which are taken will give you both.

you could use nmap for this. use syn,fin,ping scan to find alive hosts and put the onto a file. the rest are free ips.
