You have not provided enough information for anyone to guide you with specific help.
What distribution of linux did you install? There are serveral that have version 9.0 i.e. Mandrake, Redhat, SuSE.
Is this a home network setup? What type of broadband connection are you using i.e DSL, cable etc.
Do you have a router or are you directly connected to the modem?

Cool

Does YOUR ISP use PPPoE or PPPoA? Is YOUR modem internal PCI modem or an external modem? If internal, YOU need the drivers. If external, is it Ethernet (Great), Serial(Good), USB(Rough). Using Ethernet is Best. YOU can set up with Eth0 and an Ethernet PCI Card. Serial requires an RS-232 Cable to the serial port on YOUR Linux Box. If YOU need this , buy online from www.pricegrabber.com advertisers/vendors are trustworthy. Configuring an internal PCI modem really is extensive work. So by posting YOUR data, we'll try to answer YOUR questions. Good luck.
