Question mythbuntu and Virgin Mobile Mobile broadband adapter MC 760

Hi, folks! I just got mobile broadband service through Virgin Mobile, using a Novatel Ovation MC 760 dongle. I'm running a dual-boot system with Windows XP Home Edition SP3 and mythbuntu 11.04. Novatel's website had a deb for the drivers, which I have installed, and the "lsusb" command indicates that the dongle is connected correctly. HOWEVER--I cannot find ANY networking packages on my system that would enable me to finish the setup process, let alone go online! Do I need to repair my system, or what? Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Try the ndis wrapper option after a scan of the hardware if these options are available in your distro. Ndis wrapper allows you to interface properly with the dongle. Look on the windows drive for the driver or in the deb install location. Copy files to the linux partition if need be. You can also use a live cd or usb of puppy linux to learn all the module names and driver files then find and use them in mythubuntu. Try the usb labeled modules even if they aren't named Novatel. Puppy has a very comprehensive networking library built into it and a great interface making it a great hardware diagnostic tool.

Smile Problem Solved!

Problem solved, folks! It turns out that there was a small icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen I hadn't noticed before, next to the icon for the update manager. I clicked on it, and a menu dropped down that had all the information I needed to enable my mobile broadband to work with mythbuntu just fine! Unfortunately, my system got messed up while I was downloading and installing a number of updates, so now I have to reinstall the whole system! Oh, well, two steps forward and one step back . . .
