mutliple email addresses (domains)

my machine:
smtp.mydmain.com

i host my friend joe's web site (www.joesdomain.com)

i want him to get mail at joe@joesdomain.com

i Think i have dns correct, because i CAN
ping smtp.joesdomain.com

joe IS a user, on mydomain.com
and DOES get mail at joe@mydomain.com

authentication IS working (so it seems), for joe@mydomain.com
AND me@mydomain.com
(even from a winders machine, on a different network)

BUT, when i send mail to joe@joesdomain.com
(from a winders machine, on a different network)
i keep getting: Relaying denied. Proper authentication required

i would imagine its virtusertable, or access, or domaintable,
or local-domains, or local-host-names, or one of the other files in
/etc/mail (or aliases in /etc)

AND, is a change required in sendmail.mc ??

(redhat 8.0.... sendmail 8.12.8)

??? thanks

please, no "use this, or that instead"
(unless, there is NO other choice)

Where is the email for joesdomain.com being routed ? IE where do the MX records point ?

Is the domain to be local to you (same box ?)

The message you are getting from the Windoze box about relay denial will more likely be your ISP saying you can;t send mail from joesdomain.com as it is not a domain that has been allowed to relay through it.

/etc/mail/sendmail.cf or /etc/mail/sendmail.mc does not need to be touched for this or most operations within sendmail (unless you get my job anyway)

Don't worry i'll not use the "use this.. use that" approach... ;-)
