multi ips on one nic


i'm setting up a server to run ircd accounts on i got a prob with getting extra ips on one nic card i need to figure out how to get my host to assign the extra ips to my nic if anyone has an idea please let me know have tried a few different things with no sucess i run red hat 8.0 ty

Something like
ifconfig eth0:1 192.168.1.1

Like mara said. Then you need to add a route, something like:

route add -host 192.168.1.1 dev eth0:1
