Maximum number of concurrent DNS queries reached (max: 150)

I have a lot of in and out traffic and from time to time my network slows down to a crawl with some applications needing to restart ie: ssh etc etc timing out, in my syslog I always find this
Code:
dnsmasq[2154]: Maximum number of concurrent DNS queries reached (max: 150)
Now I just upgraded my router to handle the traffic, so it's not at the router level that's at fault, I believe it's the OS itself that's spitting out this error. Now I remember reading somewhere that it's possible to raise the DNS Queries in a conf file, but I have no clue which. Little Info about my setup : Distro Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS with usbnet driver and r8152 driver, being that this laptop lacks the standard RJ45 ethernet port I have to use a Type - C USB 3.1 adapter to hook up into eth0 which isn't even called eth0, it's called enx0. What I would like to accomplish is to raise it to say 300 and keep it at that, during cold and warm reboots. Any help is appreciated.

Do you really need that high a number of CONCURRENT queries.
It suggests that there is something pretty dramatic going on - like a DNS flood denial of service.

You could raise it or set hosts file entries for a bunch of sites that you normally go to but generally it seems like there is a fault in the number of lookups.

This thread has a number of good ideas even though it is about a specific program. https://github.com/eBayClassifiedsGr...raS/issues/166

Pretty easy to set up monitoring to logs to then parse to find issues or use the links ideas.

Could the BitTorrent protocol be the cause of such an issue ?
