Is the card detected? /sbin/lspci -v
What does /sbin/ifconfig says?
/sbin/insmod <intel driver>
installs your driver.
After that are you behind a firewall, router?
Static or dynamic ip?

I cant open /sbin/lspci it says no viewer able to read this file.
tried running it from a terminal using # cd/sbin/lspci -v and it just said no such directory.

ifconfig says something like
link encap : local loopback
IP 127.0.0.1
local loopback enabled

so should I just run

# cd /sbin/insmod <file name of driver?>

thanks for the help.

You must open a terminal window to run commands. You find it under main menu/system tools.
cd means "change directory"
To copy text from a window hold down the left mouse button and mark the text. If you want to post that text in linuxquestions.org open your browser and go to the post/reply for the message you want to reply to. And final (two button mouse) PRESS left and right mousebuttons at the same time, and wups the text you marked is copied from your terminal window over to your browser. On a 3 button mouse press the middle button.
So. Open a terminal window and again try /sbin/lspci -v
and post the result here.

It appears that you don't have the Kernel source installed

Go to Main menu ( Little redhat bottom left on your desktop) -> System Settings -> Add/Remove Applications -> Development -> Kernel Development

Insert the appropriate CD when prompted

Then retry to make your driver
