Hi!
I`ve installed Linux dist for very fist time. I am a newbie!
So let`s get to the problem.
I have dual booting system on my machine. Windows XP and Mandrake 10. Internet speed on XP is about 10 times faster than on Mandrake. The same file downloading speed on XP is about 50kb/s but on Mandrake ~3-5kb/s /
he he he... I misunderstod your question... no in windows it`s ok
In win I tried to download Firefox for linux from it`s homepage. Download speed ~50kb/s. looks ok for me.
Next I reboot in Mandrake and trie to download same file from same location... speec 3-5kb/s /
I am also running Mandrake 10 and Windows XP dual boot. I have a cable modem and I find the internet works much faster in Mandrake, but you have to open the network settings and verify your DNS first. I found that by default Mandrake set up the first DNS as 127.0.0.1 which is the loopback. This makes things drag. If you will remove that DNS entry, things should speed up dramatically.
