Lokking for best USB wireless adapter

What I do Have:
A Fujitsu “Lifebook” laptop. With 1.0 USB. O/S Ubuntu 5.10 Airlink 101wireless cardbus adapter AWLC3026 (not working)
What I'm looking for:
A cheap (under $20.) USB wireless adapter, that would work in a 1.0 slot, with a Linux driver, that can be forced into monitor mode
What I have read:
In most of the postings I read that the chipset is the governing factor, yet there is no way to know which chipset is in the USB wireless adapter until after you have the item in your hands. I am looking at the Netgrear WG111V2 on e-bay.

Would this be a good choice?

Thanks in advance.

Dennis

The manufacturer/model and usually the chipset is in the list as well.
There is obviously some uncertainty (probably difference in 'revision number') because some people report a device works fine while others report it's crippled or doesn't work at all.

Thank you for your help. the link pulls up a Blank page with the heading IT WORKS. Do you thik I will have trouble using a 1.0 USB slot. I know my MP3 player will not work in it. Is there a universal driver for most wireless cards or must I find on for the chipset in the device I buy.

Thanks again.
