linux machine does not connect to the network in windows network

Hi,
I have this problem. We need to set up a Linux (Suse 8.1) machine wchich would run within network using Windows.
After installation Linux I configure the network crd (using YaST2):
IP, mask, dafault gateway, domain, name servers.
My network card is recognized by the system (Realtek RT8139) and configured as eth0.
I restarted network, inetd.
What inetd services should I run?
ping on myself works. Ping on any other computer: host unreachable.
Thanks

What do you want to do?
To share between Linux & Windows you need samba. You should be able to access a web-server if there is one.
The fact that you can't ping is not necessarily a problem, pings are often blocked.
Return with more info about your network and the role of your Linux.

hi, thanks for response.
We have network which runs on Windows 2000 server.
We need a computer for sharing sources, data - we do it over CVS. So this system will run on a linux machine. We need this machine just to be able to receive CVS updates.
Samba is already installed.
