Linux kernel network bonding

Hi,

In my system i have 3 physical network interface, each 1Gbps, My goal is to use all 3 network connection with 1 ip address and achive >2Gbps bandwidth.

If i create a bond0(mode 5) interface and use all 3 physical interface, can i achieve >2Gig Tx bandwidth? Do i need to do port trunking on switch ports where 3 physical interfaces are connected?

For mode 5 bonding, the bonding interface will take care of outgoing traffic distribution only. You should get more than 2G bandwidth if outgoing traffic can reach more than 2G. The connected switch should configure as trunking if no another mechanism take care of incoming traffic distribution.
