lucent card (orinoco_cs driver)

using a lucent wavelan card with the orinoco_cs driver (patched for the monitor mode) here ppl.
when the card is out on 'monitor' mode, it drops the connections, and starts listening in. ok...
when i run kismet, it pretty much does the same as above - it just puts the card in 'monitor' mode by dropping whatever connection i had before i run it, and then sniffs around.

my question is - how can u sniff for stations around here without having to drop the connection ur on. i dont want the interface to be just sniffing packets. i would like it to stay connected to my AP, while collecting data from all AP's transmitting.

any and all ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
thanks, as always.
