ISC DCHP problem

Hi all

I've posted a similar thread over in the Fedora Forum, but thought I'd include it here for any non-Fedoraites...apologies if you've read this post in Fedora Forums (Fora?)

My laptop has been running Linux fine over the last few months (Dell Latitude D830, Fedora Core 8). On Friday last, the wired network stopped working, leaving me with wireless only. When I try to activate my network card, I get the following error:

Quote:
Determining IP information for eth0...
dhclient(2093) is already running - exiting.
This version of ISC DHCP is based on the release available
on ftp.isc.org. Features have been added and other changes
have been made to the base software release in order to make
it work better with this distribution.

Please report for this software via the Red Hat Bugzilla site:
http://bugzilla.redhat.com
exiting.
failed.
Can anyone help? I don't think that I've changed anything on my system.

then

dchlient eth0

OR
service-networking restart
OR
reinstall dhclient

I've tried what you suggest.

However, I am only able to connect to the wireless network at my site (University) - I cannot connect to the wired network. This is a problem, but is more of an issue when I'm at home, as I have to use the wired network there.

Can you think of anything else I could try?

When you're getting this error, what do you get from ifconfig -a ?
