iptables/iproute vs ipcop

Hi. I'm going to have a standalone machine acting as my router/firewall.

Should I install ipcop or should I use a standard distro with a minimal install and just use iptables/ipforward2?

I'll need it pretty scalable. I have no problem learning the syntax of iptables.

iptables really gives the maximum flexibility. Though I've never used it before, I believe ipcop is just an interface to iptables.

Probably the best information about iptables is from the www.netfillter.org website. They wrote the iptables code that is in the 2.4 and 2.6 kernels.

Here is their HOWTOs page for various document formats and languages.
