IPfire and pfsense

I want to know if you could use both ipfire and pfsense hardware for a company network. I know most likely you can, what i really want to know, if anyone else has seen this done?
My thinking is theoretically, that I would use pfsense as internet facing router and then use ipfire hardware as firewall after that.

So something like (pfsense [border router]) >>(ipfire [firewall]) >>
(pfsense [router]) >> goes to maybe 2 or more layer 3 switches vlan configured each with a ipfire firewall in front of the switches.

Is this doable? OR logical? How would you do it?

You should be able to run a few. Not sure it is logical.

You may wish to have a UTM type. Search for pages on utm linux.

There are a few firewall distro's out there. Many kind of use the same way so doubling it up won't make it more secure. I might be tempted to use just untangle linux even if you had to pay for some plugin's. The better distro's in my opinion offer layer 7+. They offer a number of features that may be desirable. Lists on web help decide. An example. http://www.techradar.com/news/6-best...ewalls-of-2017

Don't forget that a dedicated device may be faster and expensive. The amount of work that has to be performed on a wan could tax a common older hardware computers easily. The dedicated hardware however in some products are nothing to brag about but the sellers offer some guides for number of users under what conditions.
