Intranet webserver question

So I have 2 boxes running - Win2k pro and a Mandrake 9. I set up the Mandrake box to run as a webserver and samba server. My newbie question is regarding the webserver. It is running and all, but how can I access it from the intranet? I have them set up on a workgroup. I can see the computer from my windows machine, and the interent is working fine. When I type in "Localhost" or the IP of the Mandrake box it times out. Do I have to be on a domain for this to work? I was hoping not to switch to a domain since I had this existing windows box for some time now.

Just a note: the webserver is intended only for uploading my webpages and testing them.

Thanks.
J

Typing localhost from the XP machine will have it try to pull up the pages on the XP machine.

Use the IP address of the mandrake machine. Make sure apache is running on the mandrake machine. Can you pull up the pages from the mandrake machine itself?

You may also want to make sure that port 80 is open on the mandrake machine (i.e. that your firewall, if any, isn't blocking that port).
